Pre-school:
Parents of children who use childcare are contacted during the term prior to their child turning 4 to invite them to begin pre-school. Attendance times are allocated before a term begins. Parents of children who do not use the service are also invited to contact us on 85532436 before their child turns 4 years old so they can be given information about starting times and enrolment information.
Bookings are essential for child care and can be made by any of the following methods:

In person at our main office: 50 Buller St , Kingscote between 8am and 5pm weekdays
Minimum booking is 1 hour. Please note we are closed all Public Holidays, the second week of the South Australian July school holidays and the Christmas/ New Year week. Care can be booked casually or on a permanent basis. Care that is booked for the same day for more than 4 weeks in a row is deemed to be a permanent booking regardless of hours booked.
Long day care bookings are available in the following format:
Day: 8am to 6pm
Sessions: 8am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm
Hourly at anytime between 8am and 6pm
(If more than 3 hours of care are used in a session then the full session is charged for.)
Pupil free days & Vacation care bookings are available in the following format:
Day: 8am to 6pm
Sessions: 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 6pm or 10am to 3pm
Hourly at anytime between 8am and 6pm
(If more than 3 hours of care are used in a session then the full session is charged for).
Out of school hours care bookings are available in the following format:
Before school: 6.45am to 8.45am (only at Kingscote site)
After school: 3pm to 6pm
Hourly any where within the above times
Late Fee
If you are going to be late collecting your child it is important to ring as soon as possible. Failure to notify us will result in a late fee of $2 per minute being imposed. Childcare Benefit can not be claimed on late fees.
Allowable absence days
If notification is given prior to the booking commencing a 50% charge will apply, otherwise full fees will apply. A message on our message bank prior to the booking is acceptable notification. Childcare benefit applies to these days but is limited to 30 days per financial year.
Holidays are charged at a 50% fee if 2 weeks notification is given in writing, this will secure your booking for your return date. (5 weeks maximum). Childcare benefit applies to these days but is counted in the 30 day limit.
Approved absence days (such as illness or work related with supporting documentation).
A 50% fee will apply and childcare benefit is claimable where a child, parent or sibling is ill. A medical certificate is required to support the claim and notification must be received no later than on the day of the booking, otherwise full fees will apply. Childcare benefit applies to these days but there is no limit on the number claimable. There are several other reasons for claiming approved absent days -please speak with us if you would like more information.
Cancellation of care
Must be given in writing 2 weeks prior or full fees will apply. Childcare benefit is not claimable for cancelled days . Cancellation means that all bookings for the child on the specified day/s will be cancelled. Rebooking can not be done until one month after the cancelled booking date and is subject to availability.
Swapping days
To provide flexibility for families our service allows you to swap days providing the following is adhered to:
- Swapping of days needs to be phoned in or requested in person during office hours of 8am -5pm. (not requested on the message bank due to the complexity of these requests).
- The day can not be swapped on the day of the booking,
- Can only be swapped once and can only be swapped to within a week of the original booking.
Swapping can only be for full days, sessions or the same or more hours than the original booking.
